Triviathon 2023

December 20, 2023 10:17 AM CDT

WRCO will again be offering a fun game to close out the year. Triviathon has often been a special New Years Eve show over the years, however, this year the Green and Gold will be trying to keep their small NFL playoff chances afloat with a game that will block our local programming on the 31st.  My regular Those Were the Days Saturday night show (December 30th) will team up with Triviathon for a second year.  Saturday night between six and midnight, we will be asking a trivia question every ten minutes or so.  Groups of players will compete for bragging rights.  If you want to be an official team, you can call WRCO at 608 647-2111 to register.  Otherwise just listen and play along to see how you do.

During Triviathon, you will still hear all of your favorite songs from the fifties through the early nineties.  You can always drop us a chat if you have downloaded the free Civic Media app.  Music and trivia are two of my favorite things.  It goes back to playing Newscope Quiz in Mr. Stoddard’s Social Studies and Civics classes. My family always had WRCO on the radio and I heard all the news updates which made a quiz about current events much easier.  In 1983 a neighbor kid brought a brand-new game over one night.  It was called Trivial Pursuit.  I was so impressed by this.  It became a real fad in the eighties and there were many other games of knowledge that followed.  The RPM edition of Trivial Pursuit was a music game, and no one would play it against me.  That always bummed me out.  I did wind up using several of the questions for trivia when Those Were the Days debuted on WRCO in October of 1986.  We still play trivia during the show nearly every week. The Solid Gold Dancers will be answering the phone and keeping score during Those Were the Days/Triviathon Saturday night between six and midnight. Thanks for reading and we will talk with you soon.
