It will be an action packed Those Were The Days on Saturday night. I will countdown the most requested songs of the 60's during the six hour rock and roll party. Not as many songs from that decade get requested these days, however, there are a few that are always faves. TWTD favorite 60's songs include: Oh Pretty Woman-Roy Orbison, Twist and Shout-Beatles, Respect-Aretha Franklin, House Of The Rising Sun-Animals, I'm A Believer-Monkees, Runaway-Del Shannon, and (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction-Rolling Stones. Get ready to kick your shoes off and dance along with FM 100.9 or WRCO.com this Saturday night.
Some have called 1973 the last great year for rock and roll music. I don't agree with that, however, it certainly had highlights. The Fall of that year had an incredible amount of songs that still get played. We will examine some of those tunes that I first bought with my chore money at Saffels music store and the Dime Store in Richland Center. My mom used to tell me that I was wasting my time sitting around and playing those old records. She was probably correct, but I still do the same thing after all of these years and I have not learned my lesson yet.
We will not be taking your requests this Saturday night. My family wants me around for a little get together. We will be listening to Those Were The Days on WRCO between six and midnight and we hope you will too!
