My favorite past time over the last 55 years or so is collecting music. I have had a fascination with artists and groups that only had one Top 40 hit. Collecting their music is more of a challenge because they did not always sell millions of copies like Elvis or the Beatles. Sometimes you can see why a group only had one hit and other times you cannot. One of the biggest one hitters of all time is the song In the Year 2525 by Zager and Evans. It topped the charts for six weeks in the summer of 1969. Other faves include Smoke from a Distant Fire by Sanford Townsend Band, Mississippi Queen-Mountain, Tired of Toeing the Line-Rocky Burnette, Gimme Gimme Good Lovin-Crazy Elephant, and Somebodys Watching Me-Rockwell. I hope you will enjoy one hitters during Saturday night’s edition of Those Were the Days on WRCO FM 100.9, WRCO.com and the Civic Media app.

We will not be taking your requests during Saturdays show. I will be celebrating another year of living with my kids and grandkids. I am very thankful for my family and my family out in radio land. I am grateful for local radio and the chance to be on the air as I enter my 40th year of broadcasting. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend.

Phil
