
RICHLAND CENTER, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – The Richland Center boys basketball team opened the season at home with a loss to Mauston. The Golden Eagles took the lead midway through the first half en route to a 58-38 win. It was a cold outside shooting night for the Hornets. Maustons’ strong underclassmen leadership was on display as sophomore Jase Navis had a game high 21 and freshman Andrew Dillin added 15. Johann Wolf scored 13 and he and Dillin both made two three pointers. Mauston was 12 for 17 from the free throw line.
Richland Center was led by senior Brady Dosch who had 14, and junior Jayden Schoepp scored 10. Kyzan Schwictenberg added 5, Connor Stoltz totaled 4, Deakyn Heisz had a 3 pointer, and Ray Ferguson had 2 points. Richland Center made 3 three pointers and went 5 for 8 from the line.
The Richland Center JV1 team had an impressive win 61-31 over Mauston in the opener at Richland Center high school fieldhouse.
Following the 58-38 varsity loss, Richland Center will have the holiday weekend off and will next travel to Viroqua next Tuesday for a second non-conference game. Mauston will host Berlin for it’s home opener on Tuesday.
