We are monitoring the possibility of severe weather on Monday April 28th.

There is the possibility of three rounds of severe storms starting early Monday morning.

The maps shows there is a TORNADO threat, specifically. In this case, yellow is a significant risk of a tornado, and red is an even greater likelihood. The black “hatching” indicates the possibility of a strong tornado. This outlook map is showing the potential for tornadoes across a large area.

BE PREPARED, NOT SCARED.

TODAY: Decide on a good shelter place, and practice going to it quickly. Basement is best. Otherwise, a small room with no windows at the center of the house like a closet or bathroom.

Gather some bottled water, a battery-operated AM/FM radio, any critical medications, bike/motorcycle helmets for everyone, pillows and blankets, and good soled shoes. Keep phones charged.

TOMORROW: You need to be able to get weather warnings, starting early Monday morning, mid afternoon and continuing through the evening.

— Listen to 99.7 MAX FM or 740 AM in the Baraboo area and 103.7 FM in the Reedsburg Area. You can also stream on the free Civic Media App.

— Use a NOAA Weather Radio (get at most hardware stores) and program it to the weather radio frequency for your area. It will alarm and turn on automatically when Warnings are issued (helpful to wake you in the middle of the night!)

— Most cell phones will sound an alert if a Warning is issued for your area, but they aren’t perfect

KNOW WHAT COUNTY YOU LIVE IN: If a *Tornado Warning* is issued for your county, head to the basement and listen for more info on local radio and TV. If your TOWN is part of the Warning, put on the helmets, and get under the blankets and pillows. Stay there for 45 minutes or until you hear an ‘all clear’ for your town.

We will continue to monitor this system today and provide updates as necessary. Starting early Monday morning we will break into regular programming if a warning is issued. Our staff, weather forecasters and meteorologists monitor these events 24 hours a day and are ready to keep you safe. As a reminder to tune into 99.7 MAX FM or 740 AM in the Baraboo area, 103.7 in the Reedsburg Area or stream via the free Civic Media App.
