
MUSCODA, Wis (WRCO /WRCE) – The Riverdale baseball team came from behind to defeat Ithaca 5-3 on Monday night in non-conference action.
The visiting Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Riverdale snapped back with a run in the bottom of the first. Ithaca added a run in the 3rd on what would be the teams last run and last hit.
The Chieftains scored a run in the bottom of the 6th to get within a run. The bases were loaded with two outs when Chase Chitwood cleared the bases with a long triple. Chitwood was the winning pitcher as he went the distance striking out 7 and walking 2 and giving up just 3 Ithaca hits. Ethan Kagel was 2 for 3 with an rbi as the Chieftains improved to 3-4 on the season.
Sammy Clary, Wes Nelson, and Wyatt Hilby all had hits for Ithaca. The Bulldogs used two pitchers as Wes Nelson worked into the 6th inning before hitting the 100 pitch limit. Devin Ihm closed the game with a walk, two strike outs, and a hit givin up.
The loss was the first of the season for Ithaca after 6 wins to start the season. Following the 5-3 win, Riverdale will prepare to host Westby in a non-conference game today at 4:30 pm. This will be a Varsity only night as there will not be a JV game.
Ithaca has two conference games yet this week. Tonight they play at North Crawford before hosting Kickapoo on Thursday.
