MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) – Absentee ballots continue to pour in across southeastern Wisconsin as the November 5 general election approaches.
According to data from the Wisconsin Elections Commission, as of Thursday morning, over 147,000 absentee ballots had been requested in these four counties: Milwaukee, Waukesha, Kenosha and Racine.
Milwaukee County leads with 76,169 applications and 74,038 ballots sent out. Waukesha County followed with 43,243 requests and 40,996 ballots mailed. Kenosha and Racine counties have each processed over 13,000 applications.
Of the ballots sent, nearly 35,000 have already been returned across the four counties. Milwaukee County has received 17,095 completed ballots, while Waukesha County has logged 10,367 returns. About 3,500 have been returned in Racine County and Kenosha County each.
The data, updated daily at 7:30 a.m., reflects what’s been entered by municipal clerks in the statewide voter registration system. Over 1,000 smaller municipalities rely on county clerks for data entry. The data is available here.
Key upcoming deadlines include October 16 for registering by mail or online. In-person absentee voting can start October 22, with days and hours varying by municipality.

As of October 1, 2024, there have been 22 confirmed cases of pertussis, also known as “Whooping Cough” in Winnebago County. Jaci Grignon, the Communicable Disease Supervisor for Winnebago County Public Health said that pertussis is highly contagious, especially in households with an exposure.
