MILWAUKEE, Wis (Civic Media) – Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson and County Executive David Crowley are set to join the Climate Action Campaign’s Clean Energy REVolution Tour on August 8 to highlight local climate and clean energy progress.

The event will take place at Veterans Park and will reportedly showcase how investments from the Inflation Reduction Act are poised to benefit Milwaukee residents. Johnson is expected to praise the “new industrial revolution for clean energy” and express optimism about environmentally friendly manufacturing in the city.

Crowley will emphasize the urgency of addressing climate change and discuss his plan to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The tour, featuring an all-electric campervan, aims to demonstrate the impact of federal climate policies across Wisconsin and five other states. It will highlight initiatives such as the $1 million Healthy Homes & ECO Neighborhoods project, which will expand access to pre-weatherization home repairs.

Wisconsin is also set to become the second state to launch the Home Efficiency Rebates Program, offering residents up to $10,000 for energy-saving home improvements.

The Milwaukee stop will conclude the Wisconsin leg of the tour, which has previously visited Green Bay, La Crosse, and Dane County.

The Climate Action Campaign reports that in its first year, the IRA has created over 310,000 clean energy jobs nationwide and spurred $278 billion in new investments.
