By Lisa M. HaleTWO RIVERS, WI – (CIVIC MEDIA) – A deer hunter in Manitowoc County discovered skeletal human remains in the Town of Two Rivers on Saturday. Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department confirms remains were found at Camp Manitou, an area Girl Scout Camp.
Manitowoc County Sheriff’s officials did not provide the age, race, or sex of the remains. They would neither confirm nor deny that the remains could be Elijah Vue, the 4-year-old who has been missing since February.
“We are fully aware of the ongoing case of missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue, who disappeared in February,” Manitowoc Sheriff Dan Hartwig said in a press release. “However, at this time, we are unable to confirm if the remains discovered are related to this case.
“No additional information will be released at this time. Further updates will be provided as they become available. We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding as we continue the investigation.”
Meanwhile, Two Rivers police, who have repeatedly posted on Facebook that they should be the only source of information on Elijah’s disappearance have not commented on the remains.
Jesse Vang reported Elijah missing on February 20th. Elijah had been sent to live with Vang for “disciplinary reasons. Both Vang and Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, are being held in Manitowoc County Jail on charges of child neglect.
No one has been charged in the disappearance of the toddler.
