On this weekend’s Those Were the Days radio show, I will feature an interview with Dreama Denver the widow of Bob ‘Gilligan’ ‘Maynard G. Krebbs’ Denver. We will talk about the sixtieth anniversary of the debut of Gilligan’s Island and the lasting appeal of the show. On the music side, I will be posing the question of what is your desert island song? If you were stranded and only could listen to one tune, what would it be? There is a lot to consider including where would you find batteries for your boom box? Then again, the Professor on Gilligan’s Island always found a way to keep their radio batteries charged. That is among the many questions I used to think about as a kid. Where was their bathroom, and how did the Howell’s go on a tour with so much cash and Ginger with so many gowns? Getting back to the music, it is difficult to focus in on one song. When you request a song during Those Were the Days on Saturday night, you can mention your stranded hit. We will be taking input on the playlist between six and midnight on FM 100.9, WRCO.com, and on the Civic Media app. Many years ago, a listener told me that they would like to hear what I feel are my favorite songs of all time. I put together a countdown than and a few years later I looked back at the list and did not agree at all with it. I had outgrown it and was burned out on some of the tunes. There are a few that I never tire of including my walk-up song ‘Light My Fire’ by the Doors.

I will have a light on in the studio this Saturday night and hopefully you will find time to listen a bit, or check in with your song. Please listen for the trivia bell which can lead to you winning some fun prizes. Those Were the Days, my friend on WRCO. By the way, I have always been a Mary Ann fan over Ginger.
