Spinning For Grace & the Fall of ’78
September 11, 2024 11:02 AM CDT
During this week’s Those Were the Days radio show Saturday night, our action-packed show will include a guest d.j. In August we hosted a benefit radio auction for the local cancer charity Greater Richland Area Cancer Elimination. The high bidder for an hour of requests during Those Were the Days will get the spotlight this weekend. Shari is a loyal listener, and I did not have to give her rules on what era or music format she had to play. She has put together a playlist that is better than anything I could have come up with. Hear our guest d.j. between six and seven this Saturday night. I will also feature a segment of ‘twin spins’ and a flash back to the Fall of 1978. That is when I was a mighty back-up to the back-up center for the Ithaca Bulldogs. There were so many songs released that year that are still highly regarded today. Back then I spent every dime to buy tapes so that I could record off the radio. I would bring my Memorex works of art to play in the locker room and on the bus going to the games. Being the music guy kept me from getting beaten up as often. Sometimes after games I would get to go to a record hop or Center Lanes bowling alley in an attempt to impress the ladies. I am sure that were wowed by me and the ruffians I was hanging out with.
This week our family has another wedding. We will not be taking your requests, but I hope you will listen in for the fun. Those Were the Days can be heard on WRCO FM 100.9, WRCO.com, and on the Civic Media app.
