This Saturday night during Those Were the Days, I will be slipping into the ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’ to find August of 1983. The Aubrey Sound D.J. service was playing all the hits at the local softball tournaments, festivals, and bars. The hot songs from that month came from artists such as the Police, Def Leppard, Michael Jackson, and the Eurythmics. Songs on the survey that still rock for me include, Is There Something I Should Know-Duran Duran, Rock ‘n’ Roll is King-ELO, 1999-Prince, Lawyers in Love-Jackson Browne, Cuts Like a Knife-Bryan Adams, and China Girl-David Bowie. I will attempt to spin a few of these during my Those Were the Days radio show on WRCO FM 100.9, WRCO.com, and on the Civic Media app Saturday night. Our show will not start on time because of a Green Bay preseason game. The postgame show will be be done for sure by 9:00 pm but it could end as early as 8:00 pm depending on when the game ends and the chatter ends. I have checked with my agent, and she says I can stay up late so we might be able to hang around a little past 12 am!

Remember 1983 Packers such as Lynn Dickey, Eddie Lee Ivory, James Lofton, Paul Coffman, John Jefferson, Greg Koch, Larry McCarren, Ezra Johnson, Mike McCoy, Rich Wingo, and George Cumby? When I spin those classics from the hot summer of 1983 Saturday night, I will be right back there in my memories listening to Jim Irwin and Max McGee on the radio!
