Saturday night during Those Were the Days, I will look back to the music of late 1963.  The songs that were big when a miraculous birth took place on the Willow Creek!  The music of that time gets a bad rap. During my Those Were the Days radio show, I will try to defend the songs of that era.  While I admit I love the music of the British Invasion that hit these shores in early 1964, November of 1963 had its moments.  Some of my favorites include Louie Louie-Kingsmen, Be My Baby-Ronettes, It’s All Right-Impressions, Bossa Nova Baby-Elvis, Walking the Dog-Rufus Thomas, Little Red Rooster-Sam Cooke, You’re No Good-Betty Everett, Sugar Shack-Fireballs, Mean Woman Blues-Roy Orbison, Everybody-Tommy Roe, Can I Get a Witness-Marvin Gaye and She’s a Fool-Lesley Gore. These are the songs that were on the radio as my dear mother was awaiting the arrival of her bouncing baby boy. A few months later I am sure that she felt raising chickens would have been easier.

I hope you will join us for the frolic and fun of our Saturday night program on WRCO FM 100.9, WRCO.com, or on the Civic Media app.  We will have the lights on for you and the phone lines open this holiday weekend between six and midnight for dedications and trivia. Last week’s top far away requester came from a deer camp in Northern Wisconsin. Please tell your friends to join us wherever they live in the world. You can make a long distance request to them. Thanks to our loyal sponsors who still believe in Those Were the Days after all of these years. I am thankful for all of the loyal listeners of our local radio station and grateful that I still get to host a radio show after all of these years. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
