Hey Rock and Rollers! During WRCOs' six hour classic rock and roll show Saturday night, I will be saluting the working folks of Southwest Wisconsin with some blue collar songs. There are many songs that talk about work including; Summer Breeze-Seals & Crofts, Takin'' Care Of Business-B.T.O., 16 Tons-Ernie Ford, A Hard Days Night-Beatles, Blue Collar Man-Styx, and Bang The Drum All Day (I don't want to work)- Todd Rundgren. I will be in the studio to take your requests during the holiday weekend Saturday night. Last week you hit a lot of home runs when you asked for songs that we have not played since my hair was brown. Keep up the good work! It is so much fun when I hear stories from radioland. Last week a lady called and told about the first record she bought. She made 25 cents per hour baby sitting. After four hours she had a dollar and would go the store and buy a 45 record. The first one that she ever bought was Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White by Prez Prado and his Orchestra in 1955! Thanks for being so loyal to the Saturday night show, Those Were The Days. I have been successful at acting like I've been working for the past 33 years. I really like the following quote from Bob Dylan....“A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and gets to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.” I hope to hear from you on Saturday night between six and midnight.
