WAUTOMA, Wis (WAUH) – Governor Tony Evers joined local leaders in Wautoma Tuesday, June 24 to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new Waushara Community YMCA.
Set to be completed in the fall of 2026, the new Waushara Community YMCA is a satellite location of the Stevens Point Area YMCA.
The new YMCA will provide high-quality wellness facilities including community spaces, programs for aging and older adults, telehealth opportunities, drop-in childcare services for patrons, as well as a licensed childcare facility to support care for approximately 50 kids. The Waushara Community YMCA is expected to benefit over 3,200 individuals.
The state awarded the project a $4.25 million grant, which was funded by federal COVID-19 pandemic relief money. Overall, it is a $15 million project mostly funded by donations. When the groundbreaking was recently announced about $500,000 still needed to be raised for the project.
More information about donating is available on the Stevens Point Area YMCA website.
