RACINE, Wis. (WRJN) – Voters in Racine and Kenosha counties turned out Tuesday for the 2025 spring election, deciding several tight races, approving key referendums, and sending home several incumbents. The following are all unofficial results, posted on each counties website.
Racine County Contested Race Results
In Racine County, the race for Circuit Court Judge Branch 7 was one of the closest contests of the night. Challenger Jamie M. McClendon narrowly defeated incumbent Jon Fredrickson by just 55 votes, with totals of 30,202 to 30,147.
City of Racine alderperson races featured competitive outcomes and changes in representation:
District 1: Incumbent Jeff Coe was unseated by Malik R. Frazier, who won with 452 votes to Coe’s 285.
District 5: Jens Jorgensen narrowly defeated incumbent Melissa Kaprelian by a margin of 1,020 to 950.
District 9: Grace Allen secured a decisive victory with 1,085 votes against Pat Schwanke’s 605. This is the seat left open by the departing Terry McCarthy.
District 11: Incumbent Mary Land retained her seat with a narrow win over Michael Hansen, earning 573 votes to Hansen’s 526.
District 15: Nathan Pabon defeated incumbent Cory R. Sebastian with a vote total of 633 to Sebastian’s 544.
For the Racine Unified School District Board, incumbent Mike Bellagio defeated Christian de Jong with a vote count of 3,421 to 2,555.
Two major referendums passed in Racine County:
The City of Racine Fire Department referendum, proposing a $1.5 million annual property tax levy increase to maintain nine Paramedic/EMT positions currently funded by a federal grant, passed comfortably with 10,929 “yes” votes to 7,806 “no” votes.
The Racine Unified School District referendum, a $190 million operational measure over five years to address a $24 million deficit and fund staffing and programs, passed by a narrow margin of just 941 votes—23,479 in favor and 22,538 opposed.
Kenosha County Contested Race Results
Kenosha County Board Supervisor District 5: Julia E. Robinson defeated Tamara Weber with a vote total of 1,384 to 995. Robinson was appointed to the board after Brian Thomas left.
Village President of Pleasant Prairie: Dave Klimisch won against Eric Meadows with a commanding lead of 4,527 to 3,728.
For the Kenosha Unified School District Board, incumbent Rebecca Stevens (18,839 votes) and Carl J. Bryan (16,567 votes) take the two seats on the board, besting challengers Valerie Kretchmer (14,792) and Andreas Mamalakis (11,861).
Three school district referendums were also on the ballot:
The Salem School District referendum failed with 1,952 “no” votes to 1,705 “yes” votes.
The Silver Lake J1 School District referendum passed overwhelmingly with 1,091 “yes” votes compared to 549 “no” votes.
The Wilmot Union High School District referendum was approved by voters with totals of 4,175 in favor and 3,110 opposed.
Final results remain unofficial until canvassing is completed.
