The Ithaca boys basketball team hosted Southwestern in a non-conference battle on Thursday night. In the end the Wildcats came back to win 62-56. Ithaca led the majority of minutes after jumping ahead 13-12. They were up 37-31 at halftime and led by 9 three times in the 2nd half before the Wildcats made a comeback. Leading 56-48, with 4:29 left, Ithaca would not score another point against a physical defense and Southwestern finished the game on a 14-0 run. The Bulldogs were coming off a two point overtime to North Crawford on Tuesday night and the Wildcats were fresh from a 103 point scoring night against Iowa Grant on Tuesday.
Aiden Keleher had 17 points to lead Southwestern and Jack Runde added 10. The team was 11 for 24 from the line.
Ithaca was paced by Devin Ihm who knocked down 19, and Sammy Clary added 17 (including 3 of the teams 6 three pointers), Cody Byrnes and Wes Nelson each had 7, Casey Pomering had 4, and Hewston Boland put in 2. The Bulldogs were 2 for 7 from the line.
Southwestern won the JV game 51-30 against Ithaca.
Following the 62-56 Varsity win, both teams have conference games tonight. The Bulldogs, now 2-3 on the season, will play at Weston. Southwestern is 4-1 and will host Riverdale.
