MILWAUKEE, Wis (WAUK) — Milwaukee Alderman Jonathan Brostoff, 41, has died. Brostoff represented the city’s 3rd District on the Common Council.
Mayor Cavalier Johnson praised Brostoff’s “unique energy” and dedication to his work at City Hall. “No elected official brought more enthusiasm to their work than Jonathan,” Johnson said in a statement.
The Common Council released a joint statement expressing deep sadness at Brostoff’s passing, calling him a “passionate advocate for the betterment of our community.”
Brostoff, a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee graduate, served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2014 to 2022 before joining the Milwaukee Common Council. He was married with three children.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
