GREEN BAY, WI – (WGBW & WISS) – For the 22nd year, the City of Green Bay will celebrate Kids’ Day presented by Children’s Wisconsin on June 25th. The city offers free activities throughout the city and at Bay Beach.
“We’re celebrating kids!” said James Anderson, Deputy Director of Green Bay Parks and Recreation. “We’ve got a Fathers’ Day. We’ve got a Mothers’ Day. And we’ve got a Kids’ Day which is awesome…Kids of all types, ages, ranges. I mean wherever they come from, their backgrounds, and whatever their makeup is. We celebrate everybody.”
New this year, the “Meal with the Mayor” will be celebrated at Bay Beach. In addition to the meal, there will be entertainment, including Bluey and Bingo, booths, activities and giveaways, the police and fire departments bring out their vehicles, the new all-inclusive playground, and free amusement park rides all day for kids.
Anderson said there will also be a special dignitary in the city, the Kid Mayor of the Day.
“We have a kids’ mayor for the day. So, one Kid Mayor for the day will go around with the Mayor. Sign a proclamation. Be part of the press conference. He will do all the activities with the Mayor,” said Anderson. “That’s pretty cool. They get a police escort. They get to ride in the police vehicle.”
