The Richland School District is offering their free Summer Meal Program for kids again this year. Meal pick-up will be held every Thursday through August 6 at the Richland Center High School. Online forms are no longer available to sign-up. Please reach out to 608-649-HIVE (608-649-4483) to schedule for the next available summer food service pick up. Children do not need to be a Richland Schools student but must be a district resident.

Break bread with community members at a free community meal each Friday at 5:30 at the Other Door in Viroqua, Vernon County’s Drop In Center.
The Boscobel Fireman’s 2026 July 4th Celebration will be held Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4 at Kronshage Park in Boscobel. Friday will feature Co-ed Sand Volleyball at 3:00, Music in the Park starting at 5:00 and Steak Sanwiches & Meals until sold out. Saturday the Firecraker Run starts in the morning at 8:00, the Parade steps-off at 1:00, Kids Rides begins 1:30, Country Fried Band performs starting at 3:00, a Firefighting Challenge will be held at 6:30 and Fireworks get shot off at dusk. Concessions will be available during all events. Absolutely no carry-ins or fireworks.
The Lone Rock 4th of July Celebration will be held Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, at Fireman’s Park in Lone Rock. Friday night, at 8:00, there will be a Youth Through Old Timers Baseball Game. Saturday the Marketplace opens at 7:00, a 5K Water Walk-Run will be held at 8:00, the Parade steps-off at 11:00, a Chicken BBQ at Fireman’s Park starts at 11:00 and another Chicken BBQ will be held at the Lone Rock Fire Department after the Parade. At 4:00 there will be a Sand Wrestling tournament and Tun*ingo. Fireworks will be held at Dusk. There will also be a DJ and Concession Stands both days. All American Circus will be held Friday, July 3, at the Richland Center Community Center Gym. The circus will feature acrobats, clowns and motorbike stunts. Showtimes will be at 5:00 and 7:30 with a Kids Play Zone an hour before each show. There are various ticket packages available. A Euchre Tournament will be held at the Hub City Community Building each Tuesday and Friday Night at 7:00.
The City of Mauston will be holding their 4th of July Fireworks Show on Friday, July 3, at dusk.
The ADRC of Eagle Country is looking for parties interested in helping plan a Giving Voices Dementia Friendly Choir. The goal is to create inclusive spaces where singers feel a deep sense of belonging, safety and joy, while also fostering greater understanding and reducing stigma around dementia. Training for facilitating this choir will be given by the Giving Voices Organization. There will also be a search for a choir director and a piano accompanist. Caz, Cars, & Coffee will be held Saturday, July 4, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on East Main Street in Downtown Cazenovia. It is a casual car meet with no fees and no prizes. To celebrate America’s 250th Birthday area communities will have fireworks shows on Saturday, July 4. Fireworks will be shot off in Tomah at 9:45. The following communities will hold their fireworks shows at dusk. They are Boscobel, Eastman, Gays Mills, La Farge, Lone Rock, Mauston, Mazomanie, Mineral Point, Platteville, Viroqua and Westby. The Richland County Historical Society invites you to tour the Akey School Museum Sundays, through September, from 1:00 until 4:00. Akey School is located on County Highway TB, midway between Twin Bluffs and Gotham. There is no admission fee; however, donations are gratefully accepted.
There will be a Patriotic Presentation Sunday, July 5, from 1:00 to 4:00 at the Harrisburg School located east of Plain on County Road B. All are invited to attend.
The Buena Vista Lions Club Car Cruise will be held every Sunday through September 20, from 5:00 to 8:00, at the Buena Vista Bicentennial Park in Gotham. Great cars, great fun and great friends come together. There will also be a concession stand serving food and drinks at the event.

Many kids in Southwest Wisconsin depend upon the public-school lunch program for the majority of their meals, so they often go hungry during the summer. The Back Roads Church Summer Food Program serves free meals to children and teenagers 18 years old and under on weekdays from through August 6. Meals will be served at Back Roads Boscobel 11:30 to 12:45, Cozy Acres Mobile Home Park Shelter 11:00 to 11:15, Woodman Park Shelter 11:30 to 11:45 and Bloomington Village Park Noon to 12:30. Muscoda Utilities will be flushing hydrants throughout the Village of Muscoda Tuesday, July 7, through Thursday, July 9, beginning early in the morning each day. Flushing, draining and refilling activity may temporarily cause a decrease in water pressure which may cause short-term discoloration in the water. This may also affect automatic flushing units and pressure sensitive equipment.

The Declaration of Independence will be read Wednesday, July 8, at 5:00 in front of Muscoda Village Hall, 206 N. Wisconsin Avenue, in conjunction with the reading of the historic document across the nation. The event will include special music and presentation of the colors by the Muscoda American Legion Post 85. The agenda includes a few surprises and light refreshments will be served afterwards. The Vernon County Health Department offers “Wellness Screenings” the second Thursday of the month from 7:30 to 10:30. The screening includes cholesterol and blood sugar levels, as well as an assessment of blood pressure and discussion of risk factors for heart disease. A $10 donation is requested, but not required. The River Valley Community Gardens still have a few plots available for the 2026 season. 10’x10′ plots rent for $20/season, 10’x20′ plots are $40 and 20′ x 20′ are $60. The fee includes straw mulch, use of the rototiller and other tools, manure/compost, organic fertilizer, water to each plot section with hoses–and friendly, experienced gardeners who are always ready to offer advice or a hand. A reminder to Richland County property taxpayers, July 31 is the final due date for the second installment of the 2025 Real Estate Property Taxes. Taxes are due and payable to the County Treasurer’s Office. The interest rate charged in August will be 7% and interest will increase 1% on the first of each month thereafter. Payments can be made online using the public portal on the Richland County Treasurer’s website. Payments with cash or check can be made in person at the County Treasurer’s Office, dropped in the drop box located outside the courthouse, or mailed to the Richland County Treasurer’s Office along with your tax statement. Due to activities and traffic at that time, Mobile Pantry guests are not permitted to park near or on school property before 3:30. Park in line until directed to proceed. Award-winning Minneapolis dance company Black Label Movement explores the idea that architecture can move and that movement can design and construct space.
