City Utilities of Richland Center Water Department will conduct water main flushing weekdays through Friday, May 22. Flushing will take place beginning at approximately 6:00 AM and continuing through mid-to-late afternoon. Flushing will not take place overnight this year. During flushing, the entire water system may experience temporary rusty or cloudy water and reduced water pressure, not just the zone being flushed that day. The water remains safe to drink; however, it may discolor laundry. Storms or other unexpected circumstances may extend or postpone flushing times or dates. The Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry will be at Ithaca High School the third Thursday of each month beginning at 4:00. Due to school activities and traffic at that time, Mobile Pantry guests are not permitted to park near or on school property before 3:30. Park in line until directed to proceed. There are no restrictions, everyone in need is welcome, no matter where you live. No ID or proof of income is required.

The Richland Center Lions is hosting Car Cruise-In and Burgers on Thursday, May 21, from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Richland County Fairgrounds.

American Legion Post 335 of Avoca will hold Pre-Memorial Day Programs in the area on Thursday, May 21. American Legion members will meet at Avoca School Parking Lot at 5:00 PM and leave by 5:30 PM. They will first travel to Pulaski Church (6763 HWY P) for a program around 6:00 PM. They will then travel to Fairview Church (2293 Fairview Road) around 6:30 PM. Following that they will hold a program in Clyde Township near the old County Shop (6610 HWY 130) at around 7:00 PM. The final program will be held at North Otter Creek Cemetery (6969 Bigelow Hill Road) at 7:15 PM. At each location they will read names of service members buried there, hold a 21 gun salute and play “Taps.”

Celebrate Recovery -RC meets every Thursday night from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Nazarene Outreach Center in Richland Center. Food is available starting at 5:30. Celebrate Recovery – Richland Center is sponsored by Grace Community Church.

Walk with GRACE planning committee meetings will be held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 at the GRACE Office above Royal Bank in downtown Richland Center. Team captains or representatives are always welcome.

The ADRC of Eagle Country is looking for parties interested in helping plan a Giving Voices Dementia Friendly Choir. The goal is to create inclusive spaces where singers feel a deep sense of belonging, safety and joy, while also fostering greater understanding and reducing stigma around dementia. Training for facilitating this choir will be given by the Giving Voices Organization. There will also be a search for a choir director and a piano accompanist. American Legion Auxiliary Unit 13 will be at area businesses for Poppy Day Friday, May 22. Please support our area Veterans and their families.

The Walk with GRACE Annual Spring Flower Sale is being held through June 12, from 8:00 until 4:30 each day, at 780 N Orange Street in Richland Center. A wide variety of flowers, pots and plants will be available for purchase. Profits, from the sale, will go to Greater Richland Area Cancer Elimination (GRACE).

Break bread with community members at a free community meal each Friday at 5:30 at the Other Door in Viroqua, Vernon County’s Drop In Center.

A Euchre Tournament will be held at the Hub City Community Building each Tuesday and Friday Night at 7:00.

Saturday, May 23

The Brewer Public Library will be closed on Saturday, May 23, and Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

Team Booneytunes 15th Annual GRACE Art and Garage Sale Fundraiser will be Saturday, May 23, and Sunday, May 24, from 8:00 to 5:00 both days in downtown Gillingham. Look for the GRACE Guitars. All money raised will go to GRACE.

Ithaca FFA will have a Plant Sale Saturdays through May, from 9:00 until 1:00, at the greenhouse behind the school. There will be over 200 hanging baskets, bedding plants, decorative pots, vegetables and more. New this year, purple pots and water can pots. Sunday, May 24

Harrisburg School Museum will hold an open house on Sunday, May 24 from 1:00 to 4:00. The museum is located on County Highway B, East of Plain.

The Kickapoo Valley Rescue Squad will be holding their Annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, May 24, from 7:00 until Noon at 213 N. Turner Avenue in Viola. Cost is a free will donation.

The Buena Vista Lions Club Car Cruise will be held every Sunday through September 20, from 5:00 to 8:00, at the Buena Vista Bicentennial Park in Gotham. Great cars, great fun and great friends come together. There will also be a concession stand serving food and drinks at the event.

The River Valley Community Gardens still have a few plots available for the 2026 season. 10’x10′ plots rent for $20/season, 10’x20′ plots are $40 and 20′ x 20′ are $60. The fee includes straw mulch, use of the rototiller and other tools, manure/compost, organic fertilizer, water to each plot section with hoses–and friendly, experienced gardeners who are always ready to offer advice or a hand. Monday, May 25

A Memorial Day Mass will be held Monday, May 25 at 9:00 at St. Killian’s Catholic Church in Bear Valley. Following the service there will be refreshments and fellowship in the church basement hall.

The Spring Green American Legion Post 253 will hold its Memorial Day program Monday, May 25, at 9:00 at Veterans Park in Spring Green. Following the program a chicken barbeque will be held at the Spring Green Community Center from 11:00 to 1:00. Cost of a meal is $15 which includes half of chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, beans and a cookie. Meals will be carryout only.

Bower-Gunnill-Dalton VFW Post 2267 will host the Richland Center Memorial Day Parade and Services on Monday, May 25. The parade line-up will begin at East 3rd and North Park Streets, next to the large hospital parking lot. The Chapter VII Troop carrier will be available for Veterans who cannot ‘march’ or need a ride to the location and will leave the American Legion Post 13 parking area by 9:30. The parade starts at 10:00 proceeding onto Church Street, turning right on 8th Street then turning right into Saloutos Drive at the cemetery. Services will begin about 10:30. Weather permitting, a fly-over is scheduled at 11:00 by the Buena Vista Flying Club. Following the services the W. H. Bennett Unit 71 Woman’s Relief Corp Water service for those lost at sea will be held at American Legion Post 13. In case of inclement weather, services will be at the high school field house starting at 10:00 with a slightly revised program. Military Veterans are encouraged to participate along with all units that reflect a patriotic theme. The public is also encouraged to participate whether traveling in the parade or as observers. Members of Lone Rock American Legion Post 383, and the Legion Auxiliary, will hold their Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 25. The first event will be held at Battery Park in Lone Rock on at 10:00. The second event will be held at St Malachy Church Cemetery in Clyde at 11:00.

American Legion Post 220 of Soldiers Grove will hold a Memorial Day Program Observance on Monday, May 25, at 11:00 at the Memorial Wall in the Soldiers Grove Park. A picnic meal and social will be held at the William Schoville American Legion Post 220 from 11:00 until gone. The meal includes Burgers, brats, hot dogs, salad, chips and dessert. A free will offering for the meal is suggested. Vets eat for free.

The Highground will hold its 16th Annual Honor Ride and Memorial Day Ceremony Monday, May 26. The ride features seven scenic motorcycle rides beginning at various locations throughout the state. The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Eagle Country, Richland County office is offering the Richland Center Caregiver Support Group at the Woodman Senior Center on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This group offers a chance to connect with local experts, family members and care partners who may be experiencing similar circumstances. Ensemble Dal Niente in Concert and Discussion will be held Sunday, May 31, from 1:30 to 3:30 at the Hillside Theater at Taliesin. The concert will offer an opportunity to experience the ensemble’s distinctive and boundary-pushing musical voice within one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s most acoustical and architectural spaces. Students in River Valley Schools Grades 5-12 are eligible for FREE 10’ x 10’ garden plots at the River Valley Area Community Garden. A Day at Taliesin will be held Saturday, June 6, from Noon to 4:00. Monday, June 8

The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Vernon County offers a free social group for individuals with early-stage dementia. The social group meets on the second and last Mondays of the month from 10:00 to 11:30 at the McIntosh Memorial Library conference room in Viroqua. The social group provides an opportunity to meet other people on a similar journey and share life stories with each other. Spouses, adult children, and friends are encouraged to join the group, too. Tuesday, June 9

The Busy Bees Garden Club for kids 3K-4th grade who reside in the River Valley School District is again being offered at the River Valley Area Community Gardens. The Club meets weekly on Tuesdays, June 9 through July 28, from 9:15 until 10:15. Each child gets their own 2’ x 4’ raised bed to grow plants of their choosing. Along with tending the beds, each session includes an activity. RVACG provides a variety of seeds and plants and the use of garden tools. A parent or caregiver must accompany the kids to the sessions. The cost is $10 per child or $15 per family. There are scholarships available. All are welcome. The ADRC of Eagle Country-Richland County will be holding Richland County Men’s Shed, the second Wednesday of each month at 11:00, at the Willow Community Center in Lloyd. The Vernon County Health Department offers “Wellness Screenings” the second Thursday of the month from 7:30 to 10:30. The screening includes cholesterol and blood sugar levels, as well as an assessment of blood pressure and discussion of risk factors for heart disease. A $10 donation is requested, but not required. The 67th Wisconsin High School Rodeo State Finals will be held Friday, June 12, through Sunday, June 13, at the Richland County Fairgrounds. Friday will be “Wear Pink for GRACE” day. Performances will be Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 and Sunday at Noon. Special introductions will be held a half hour before each performance. St. John’s Lutheran Church’s GRACE Team will be hosting a Brat Stand on Saturday, June 13, at the Richland Locker from 10:00 to 1:30, or until sold out. Classic Movie: Bringing Up Baby will be shown Monday, June 15, from 7:00 to 9:00 at Hillside Theater in Spring Green. Screwball sparks fly when Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn let loose in one of the fastest and funniest films ever made. A high-wire act of invention that took American screen comedy to new heights of absurdity. The film, first shown at Taliesin in 1956, is presented in partnership with the River Valley Film Club. Cellist Mike Block will be performing at the Hillside Theater at Taliesin on Saturday, June 20, from 6:30 until 8:30. Mike Block is a Grammy Award winning multi-style cello player, composer, singer and educator with a passion for cross-cultural collaborations. An admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture since childhood, Block’s performance will include works directly inspired by Fran Lloyd Wright and Taliesin. An Old Time Family Dance will be held the third Saturday night of each month, from 7:30 until 10:00, on the second floor of Schmitt Woodland Hills in Richland Center. There will be slow dances, fast dances, and square dancing. Requests will be taken and there will also be karaoke.
