We have talked about Beatle events from fifty years ago for the last two weeks on Those Were The Days. This Saturday night we will share a few more moments. Listeners have been sharing their memories about that black and white night 50th years ago Sunday. The tv event inspired many young musicians to form a band. This Sunday night on CBS you can watch a tribute from the Ed Sullivan Theatre which features many new artisits paying tribute as they preform Beatle songs. Ringo and Paul will even play a few including: Matchbox, Boys, Yellow Submarine, Magical Mystery Tour, Birthday, Get Back, I Saw Her Standing There, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, and With A Little Help From My Friends! This will be better than the Super Bowl for me. On WRCO FM 100.9 Saturday night (between 6 p and Midnight) you can hear a few Beatles classics and later in the night (when I get back from wrestling broadcasts) we will be taking your rock n' roll requests from the 50's through the 80's. I was 12 1/2 yrs old when I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I remember my dad's dislike for them after George (I think) proclaimed they were better known than Jesus. I lived in Janesville, WI. at the time. I would go into Woolworths and see all kind of Beatles merchandise. I thought the long haired wigs were ridicoulis. I did buy a pair of boots like their's tho.
