The Riverkings swept the Blades in the regular season with scores of 5-3 and 5-2 on the road and 9-1 and 7-0 at home.

Wrestlers begin state prep

Six members of the Wisconsin Rapids and two of the Nekoosa/Assumption/Port Edwards Wrestling teams will be advancing to the WIAA State Wrestling Championships over February 27, 28, and March 1 at the Kohl Center in Madison.

Seniors Amiya Leverance and Sawyer Ostrum represent the Papermakers, while Jackson Freeman, Landyn Freeman, Aspen Tritz, Carter Freeman, Kailar Tritz, and Tanner Gormanson lead the Raiders’ efforts.

Royals wrap up the regular season in style

On Thursday, February 20, the Assumption Girls Basketball team ended the regular season with a big night when they defeated Stratford 68-50.

The game marked 36 consecutive wins for the Royals in Marawood Conference play going back to Feb of 2023, but senior Sarah Shaw and junior Jordyn Jaglinski both eclipsed 1,000 career points to go with it being the senior class’s 100th varsity win.

Roenius has special senior night

Wisconsin Rapids senior, Sean Roenius, became just the fifth Rapids Boys Basketball player to break 1,000- points on Monday, February 24 against Tomah.

He also reset the single-game scoring record with 43-points against the Timberwolves.

The old mark was 41- points set in 2019 by Dylan Lisitza, which Roenius tied on Feb. 7 against Wausau East.
