River Valley School District Transportation Announcement

Due to water covered roads, the River Valley School District is asking for assistance and patience with bus transportation. Student safety is the number one priority, and the district will do everything it can to ensure safe travel for students.

River Valley and Lamers Bus Company want to make everyone aware of the processes and procedures with the current conditions. First, state and federal guidelines do not allow bus drivers to drive through water-covered roads. Next, if a bus driver can't access a drop off location for a student, the bus driver will call the bus barn. The bus barn manager will contact the parent or guardian and attempt to set up an alternative drop off location. If an alternate location can't be determined, the bus will return the student to the student's school. The District will ensure supervision for elementary students that need to be returned to school for pickup. Middle School and High School students will have access to enter their respective buildings.

A similar process will be used during pickup in the morning. If a bus is not able to access a pickup location, the bus barn manager will contact the parent or guardian and attempt to set up an alternative pickup location.
