Richland County Emergency Management Severe Storms

Richland County Emergency Management has stated that strong to severe storms with heavy rainfall are possible this afternoon into tonight for the entire area. Confidence remains low with regard to the exact timing or track of these storms, but multiple rounds of storms are possible. A severe threat looks to exist mainly this afternoon and evening while a flood threat would continue into tonight.

The main hazards of these storms include: damaging winds, heavy rain, and localized flooding. Damaging winds could lead to tree damage and downed power lines. Some large hail is also possible which could cause damage. Localized flooding may occur where storms repeatedly move over the same area.

Any prolonged power outages may be more problematic for those sensitive to the increasing heat and humidity.
