What The Flag Means To Me
The Richland County Republican Party announced the winners of this year's "What The Flag Means To Me" essay contest. Six young individuals were chosen out of 59 total entries. We'd like to take this time to showcase the efforts of those six elementary students.
February 6th Richland School Board Meeting
The Richland School Board met Monday evening, February 6th. At the meeting, the food service arrangement between the Richland and Ithaca School Districts was discussed.
Richland District Adding Time To Instructional Day
At the most recent Richland School Board meeting, it was decided how the district would add instruction time to the achieve the state's requirement for classroom minutes in a school year. So far in the 2016-2017 school year, the district has missed 10 whole days because of inclement weather – the most in many years.
St. Mary Approved As A Voucher School
Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic School in Richland Center is one of the 31 new private schools in the state that have registered with the DPI for the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program for the 2017-2018 school year. The program allows students who reside outside of southeast Wisconsin to use a taxpayer-funded subsidy to attend participating private or religious schools. St. Mary's participation will be for students in K4 through 4th grade only. Parents who wish to enroll their children in the statewide voucher program for the 2017-18 school year must complete the on-line application between February 1st and April 20th on the Private School Choice Programs Student Applications website.
2017 Southwest Tech Outdoor Skills Day
Southwest Tech in Fennimore will host the 5th annual Outdoor Skills Day Saturday, February 4, at the Ag/Auto Building on campus.
Ithaca Schools Adding Time To Instructional Day
Like many other schools in the area, the Ithaca School District is looking at alternatives to make up instruction time due to lost due to inclement weather. Ithaca District Administrator Bob Smudde said that starting Monday, January 30, the Ithaca school day will begin 10 minutes earlier and end 5 minutes later to accommodate the time missed. Smudde said that bus pick up times in the morning will not be affected. Afternoon drop off times will be 5 minutes later.
Again, please note that the change will begin on Monday next week (Jan. 30). The school day at Ithaca will begin 10 earlier and end 5 minutes later to help make up time missed due to the inclement weather days this year. Morning bus times will not be affected. Afternoon drop offs will be 5 minutes later than usual.
January 23rd Richland School Board Meeting
The Richland School Board met on January 23rd and addressed making up time lost this far in the district, and how to create additional time with the likelihood that additional poor weather days are needed.
2017 UW-Richland Homecoming
Homecoming 2017 activities take place on Saturday, March 4th at the University of Wisconsin-Richland.
January 17th Richland County Board Meeting
The Richland County Board of Supervisors met for regular monthly business on January 17th, and the cloud of the county's financial situation made its way into nearly every decision made by the board.
