Richland County Well Water Testing

The Richland County Land Conservation Department (LCD) is offering another chance to assist private well owners in getting their water tested.

The well owner must cover the cost of the test but the Land Conservation Department will take the samples to the lab for testing, sparing the owner the cost of overnight shipment. Testing kits from UW-Steven’s Point Water and Environmental Analysis Lab have been obtained and they are available for pick up at the Land Conservation Department office (located at 26136 Executive Lane, Suite C Room 102) between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM. There are limited test kits available, the lab can only handle so many samples at a time, and the Land Conservation Department is limited to 15 tests per round.

Land Conservation staff will travel to the lab Wednesday morning, May 15. All samples must be dropped off at the office before 10:00 AM that day. Please follow the instructions for collecting the water sample that are included with the test. For best results, the water should be collected after Noon on Tuesday, May 14, the morning of the 15th is better.

When you drop the sample off at the Land Conservation Department you will need to bring a check or money order for $52 made out to Richland County Land Conservation Department to cover the cost of the test. The County will be submitting one check for all samples to the lab in Stevens Point. Your test results will only be sent to you, the Land Conservation Department will not get a copy of the results, regardless of the method of payment.
