Meals on Wheels Seeking Volunteers

Meals on Wheels Richland County is seeking volunteer drivers. Four vacancies currently exist for routes within the Richland Center city limits. The routes generally take less than one hour of a person’s time. Routes go out at 10:30 AM, Monday through Friday, no holidays or weekends. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

As a Meals on Wheels driver, you do more than deliver a meal, you provide a warm smile, hot meal and peace of mind to the homebound seniors within the community. Drivers serve as the eyes and ears of the Senior Nutrition Program, often reporting health and well-being concerns before they become a crisis. Meals on Wheels is perfect to do on your own or with a friend. You can partner to share a route or deliver on alternate weeks.

Requirements and commitment of volunteers are: One to one and a half hours of your time; a valid drivers license; a dependable vehicle; a complete background check; complete an orientation and training; and be able to lift 30 pounds. Once you have cleared the background check you will be in contacted to discuss your availability and set-up a time for orientation and training.
