Richland County Health and Human Services Mandatory Lay-Off Days

The Richland County Department of Health & Human Services staff will have five mandatory lay-off days during the remainder of 2017.

This is in response to the county’s current financial crisis and the need for departmental budgets to come in under budget. The Community Services Building will be closed and only crisis services offered on the following days: Monday, July 3rd, the office will also be closed on Tuesday, July 4th for the holiday; Friday, September 1st, with the office remaining closed on Monday, September 4, for the Labor Day holiday, and it will remain closed on Tuesday, September 5th, as a mandatory lay-off day. Remaining lay-off days will be Wednesday, November 22nd, and Friday, December 29th. These remaining days fall around Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year holidays.

As always, the Community Services Building will also be closed on weekends and the holiday schedule already established by the county. These five layoff days have been placed before or after holidays, so clients should make arrangements to have their issues addressed at least two days before an upcoming layoff day if possible. All Senior Nutrition Program Meal Sites will be closed and Public Transportation Services will not be offered on these layoff days. Individuals with Economic Support issues should contact the Capital Consortium (888- 794-5556).

Individuals may still call the office at (647-8821) and follow the prompts for contacting crisis services; however, messages left on staff voice mail will not be returned until after the office is reopened. Individuals may contact crisis services directly by calling the Richland County Sheriff’s Department (647-2106) for emergencies involving children or the Mental Health Crisis Line (844-610-6706).
