River Valley Teaching Awards

The River Valley High School in Spring Green has earned a pair of recent awards.

River Valley High School has earned a spot on the “100 Best W!SE High Schools Teaching Personal Finance” national ranking released by Working in Support of Education – a New York City-based educational not-for-profit focused on promoting student financial literacy nationwide. River Valley High School has been Ranked #76 in the U.S. for Teaching Personal Finance. This means that students at River Valley performed among the highest in the entire country on the WISE standardized Financial Literacy Certification Test. WISE students in 46 states receive nearly 6 million hours of personal finance instruction annually. At River Valley High School, Financial Literacy is currently taught by Heidi Radel and is a required ½ credit class, beginning with the graduating class of 2018.

In addition, Phil Manske – River Valley High School Math Teacher – has been awarded the 2017 Mathematical Association of America, Wisconsin Section Secondary School Teacher Award. Manske recently received the award at UW-Milwaukee. Among the criteria for the award, nominees must be able to foster curiosity and generate excitement about mathematics in their students. Phil Manske has been a math teacher at River Valley High School since 1992.
