CounterAct Parents Night 2017
The Richland Center Police Department, along with the Richland School District and St. Mary’s School, will host the annual CounterAct Parent’s Night Monday, February 27th, at the Doudna School Gymnasium beginning at 7:00 PM.
For the past five weeks, officers from the Richland Center Police Department have been in 5th grade classrooms teaching the CounterAct program. In CounterAct, students learn specific, age-appropriate skills that they can apply to real-life situations to enable themselves to make positive choices and resist the pressures to engage in risky behaviors such as drinking, smoking, using drugs or engaging in violent behavior. CounterAct also emphasizes the importance of parents and family in the growth and social development of our young people.
Parent’s night gives family members and other important adults an opportunity to learn what the students have studied during the five classroom sessions. The students will present skits that demonstrate the skills they have learned. In addition, officers will present information geared toward parents and other adults who have a stake in the success of our children.
Parents and family members of the students as well as persons interested in the program are invited to attend CounterAct Parent’s Night. It will begin at 7:00 PM on Monday, February 27th, in the Doudna School Gym in Richland Center. There is no cost to attend and the program will last approximately one hour.
