Cuts for a Cause

The Richland Center Cost Cutters staff encourages area residents to stop in for their “Cut for a Cause” fundraiser on the afternoon of Sunday, October 30th from 4:00 until 6:00 to support the Passages Domestic Violence Shelter in Richland Center.

Stylist Lisa Ward, who spearheaded the inaugural event last fall, said the Cost Cutters stylists are volunteering their time, with all service fees and tips being donated to Passages during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Lisa started the fundraiser as a result of a tragic family domestic violence event 11 years ago. “Cut for a Cause” is her way to draw attention to domestic violence and to raise funds for the local shelter. She and five other Cost Cutters stylists will be on hand that day offering haircuts. The minimum hair cut cost is $10, with the hope that those who are able will donate more. In addition, Bill Kaminski, Cost Cutters franchise owner in southern Wisconsin, will double the funds collected that afternoon.

Passages was founded in 1970. It provides safety and services to those affected by domestic violence and/or sexual assault. In 2015 alone, Passages was able to shelter 71 women and children, and serve 237 men, women, and children from Vernon, Crawford, and Richland counties.

Again, the “Cuts for a Cause” effort will take place at the Richland Center Cost Cutters on Sunday, October 30th from 4:00 until 6:00. Those with questions can call Lisa Ward at 647-8493.
