2016 Milk Into Cheese

If you are a farm family and would like to participate in the 17th annual Milk Into Cheese effort now is the time.

Donations of liquid milk from farmers to help supply area food pantries with locally-produced cheese need to be made known by this Friday, August 26th. Any family or business that would like to make a financial donation to purchase milk to be processed into cheese for the food pantries in Richland Center, Muscoda, and Lone Rock can do so at any time between now and Labor Day.

The goal for this year is 25,000 pounds of milk. As of Wednesday, August 24th, 8,000 pounds of milk had been pledged. 100% of the funds raised go directly toward the production of cheese. There are no administrative costs and all of the labor and materials are being donated. This year's price to turn 1,000 pounds of milk into 100 pounds of cheese is $180 – however, contributions in any amount will be accepted and gladly appreciated.

To make a milk donation call Ed Chitwood at 537-2340. Those interested in making a monetary donation can send a check made payable to “Milk into Cheese” care of: Ed Chitwood; 16025 Eddy's Lane; Blue River 53518.
