2016 Richland Schools Preview

School will begin in the Richland School District on September 1st, but before classes begin there are some important dates for families to remember.

Open house/Back-to-School nights will be on August 30th from 4:00-6:00 for Doudna, Jefferson, and the Richland Middle School. Lincoln school will have two open house days. August 30th from 5:00-6:00 for the Tuesday and Thursday students, and August 31st from 5:00-6:00 for the Monday and Wednesday students. Students and parents are invited to attend and get familiar with the staff and classrooms.

One major change for the coming school year is transportation. Many in the district have noticed new buses in town. Richland School District Administrator Jared Burke explained that the Richland School District will be using a new bus company, Kobussen, which will be using brand new, 2016 propane buses, which should save the district money.

Some students in the Richland School District will begin classes on what is known as Step-Up Day on Thursday, September 1st. Elementary students, sixth grade, and freshman will attend school on September 1st. Seventh and eighth grade students, as well as sophomores, juniors and seniors will attend school on Friday, September 2nd.

Following the beginning of school in the Richland School District, the next big event on the calendar for students is Homecoming week which will be held September 26th through October 1st.
