Primary Election Day August 9th
It's primary election day. Officials say voting will be light today, Tuesday August 9th, as there are not a lot of races on the ballot. Locally there are three primary races on the democratic ticket.
Third District incumbent Congressman Ron Kind of La Crosse faces a challenge from retired school teacher, Myron Buchholz of Eau Claire. The winner from today's election will not face a Republican challenger in the general election.
The democratic U.S. Senate race is between former Senator Russ Feingold and Scott Harbach, a private detective from Kenosha. Today's winner between Feingold and Harbach will move on to face Republican incumbent Ron Johnson in November.
Art Shrader of Reedsburg and Tom Crofton of rural Richland Center are vying for the Democratic nomination in the 50th State Assembly District. The winner will face Republican incumbent, Ed Brooks in the general election.
Polls will be open today from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The general election will be held Tuesday, November 8. A reminder that photo ID's will be necessary to cast a vote today.
