The City of Richland Center will celebrate the Independence Day holiday with the annual Thunderfest celebration this Saturday, July 2nd.
Many familiar activities will be returning this year along with a full lineup of musical performances and the ever-popular fireworks show at dusk.
RC Thunderfest will kick off Saturday morning at 7:00 AM with the Pi-Tri Challenge in Krouskop Park. Similar to previous years, participants will paddle four miles on the Pine River, pedal 12 miles, and run a little over three miles. The race will be both competitive and non-competitive and awards will follow. Interested participants may register on-line by visiting pitrichallenge.org. The remainder of the day's activities will begin at noon and continue for much of the day. They include go-kart racing which includes the Caring Karts Churnin' Dust races, a bungee jump, obstacle course, WOW balls, the Try Pie challenge, pony rides, Dunk-a-Hunk dunk tank, and new to this year's festival – turtle races. Also beginning at noon and continuing until midnight will be free musical entertainment at Thunder from the Stage. At around 10:00 PM Saturday night, one of southwest Wisconsin's most popular fireworks displays will take place.
RC Thunderfest will again take place this Saturday in Richland Center's Krouskop Park. More information on this year's festival is available at rcthunderfest.org.
