2016 CounterAct Parents Night

The Richland Center Police Department, along with the Richland School District and St. Mary's School will host CounterAct Parent's Night tonight (February 25th) at Doudna Elementary School.

For the past five weeks, officers from the Richland Center Police Department have been working with 5th grade students in the classrooms teaching them the CounterAct Program which involves learning specific age-appropriate skills that they can apply to real-life situations to enable themselves to make positive choices and resist the pressures to engage in risky behaviors of drinking, smoking, using drugs, or engaging in violent behavior. Lieutenant Billy Jones is the lead CounterAct officer with the Richland Center Police Department. He said that parents and other adults are a key component in CounterAct.

Parents' Night gives family members and other important adults an opportunity to learn what the students have studied during their classroom sessions the last several weeks. The students will present skits that demonstrate the skills they have learned.

In addition to the students' skits and a short presentation by Lieutenant Billy Jones, CounterAct Parents Night will also welcome special guests Sergeant Dane Kanable and K9 unit Titan from the Richland County Sheriff's Department. Again, Parents Night will be held tonight (February 25th) at 7:00 PM in the Doudna Elementary School Gymnasium. There is no cost to attend and the program will last approximately one hour.
