Richland Center City Council Candidate Update

All five members of the Richland Center city government whose seats are up for election next spring have made their intentions known about their future plans.

The latest person is Alderperson Judy Shireman – who represents District #3, Wards 7, 8, & 9. Shireman has completed the Declaration of Candidacy and will be circulating nomination papers for re-election. It was announced earlier this week that Jay B. Mueller in District #2, and Mike Kaufman in District #4 have also begun the process for their re-election bids. Susan Fruit in District #1 – representing Wards 1, 2, & 3 – has filed notification of non-candidacy. The mayor's position will also be decided in April. Incumbent mayor Paul Corcoran has filed the Declaration of Candidacy papers for Mayor and will be circulating nomination papers for another run.

Anyone interested in running for their respective municipal, county, or school board need to file the necessary paperwork no later than the end of the business day on Tuesday, January 5th. Again, the General Election will be held April 5, 2016. If needed, the date of the spring primary is February 16, 2016.
